- We provide training to help volunteers and schools make smart choices when working with youth. It is all about creating great experiences while keeping everyone protected.

You will complete the following six (6) steps to volunteer with us:
Application Form
- This form allows us to connect your member account and information to this program.
Youth Protection Agreement
- This is part of your application and will require your signature. It helps us ensure that we are all on the same page when it comes to youth safety and support.
Hold Harmless Form
- This is part of your application and will require your signature.
Media Release Form
- This is part of your application and will require your signature.
Volunteer Program Training
- Once the above steps have been completed, you will receive confirmation from the volunteer program manager via email to begin your volunteer program training.
Background Check
- A background check is part of your application and is required for all volunteers to work with youth. Upon completion of all AOPA paperwork, you will be directed to complete a background check (and any other school-specific training requirements) for the school you are interested in working with.

Storytelling Q&A - You as the volunteer would go into a high school classroom and share a personal story or experiences highlighting challenges, achievements, and lessons learned followed by student Q&A. The length can be 30-60 minutes for storytelling and 10 minutes for Q&A.
Field Trip - This format requires students to visit a local airport to tour a volunteer's aircraft or an aviation facility. A presentation will be given to students, followed by a guided exploration of key features of an aircraft or drone, and time for Q&A. The length of this demonstration is expected to run for two (2) hours.
