AOPA High School Aviation STEM Curriculum Application

Thank you for your interest in AOPA's aviation STEM curriculum. One application and signed agreement form is needed per school seeking to use the curriculum. All completed applications must be submitted by a school official using the online application no later than May 31, 2021.

To be eligible to use the curriculum, the following must occur:

 

1.    The application is submitted by a current full-time, paid employee of a school system or school.

2.    The application is completed no later than the established deadline, May 31, 2021.

3.    The school must commit to using the AOPA curriculum in its entirety for both semesters for the school year.

4.    The school must provide credit for the AOPA courses that counts toward graduation.

5.    The AOPA courses must have at least five (5) students from the applying school or home school co-op enrolled per semester.

6.    The instructor(s) who will teach the AOPA courses must participate in professional development provided by AOPA in the spring/summer (in-person or virtual) for the grade level of curriculum they will teach (unless they previously participated in that same grade level workshop).

7.    The instructor(s) must submit all required (non-identifying student data, i.e. number of students, gender, ethnicity, etc.) data per class no later than the dates provided.

Agreement Approvals


AOPA requires signatures from a district administrator and a school administrator of the school using the AOPA curriculum. By signing, administrators agree to provide data, support a teacher's participation in the AOPA provided professional development, and follow the non-disclosure agreement guidelines. After this application is completed and submitted to AOPA, an agreement form will be sent for electronic signature to each individual on the application.

REQUIRED DATA


School will provide AOPA with the following data through four surveys for its school and each classroom using the AOPA Curriculum in each semester it is taught by the dates below. Each teacher using the AOPA curriculum is required to complete these surveys per class.

If School continues courses in a pathway(s) in future years, additional data will be required from the School, such as the number of students continuing in the pathway, number of CTE completers, and industry credential metrics. AOPA may request additional data. No personally identifying student information will be collected, nor shall such personally identifying student information be provided by School to AOPA.

 

AOPA reserves the right to select, in its sole discretion, schools that will be allowed to use the AOPA High School Aviation STEM Curriculum.

 

All completed applications must be submitted online to AOPA no later than 11:59 p.m. EDT, May 31, 2021. If all documents are not completed by this date, the school will NOT be able to use the AOPA curriculum for the 2021-22 school year. 

NOTIFICATION


Schools will be notified of their selection status and next steps in the order in which applications are received. Once all forms are received and approved, more information will be provided about curriculum access and teacher professional development.
